INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Internships are available for school credit only. If you wish to enroll in our internship program, please forward your resume to RNNInternships@rnntv.com.

News

News interns at WRNN get the opportunity to learn about the news business through hands on experience. Everyday we produce a live “talk” show. Topics for the show are chosen from major news stories, so there are plenty of chances for students to learn and develop the skills needed to put the show on air. WRNN interns get the opportunity to do everything from ripping scripts and running teleprompter to conducting interviews, and researching and writing stories. Interns are the right hand people of the producers, reporters, and the assignment desk. In addition, the news interns who stand out are often considered for jobs in the future.

Operations/Production

Operation interns work primarily in the Master Control and Control Room areas, where they are taught to load and cue tapes for air, setup satellite feeds, program and load commercial insertion equipment, and gain an appreciation for broadcast standards and references. The Control Room is where all the behind the scenes action occurs. During live broadcasts, this room is filled with Producers, Directors, Tape Operators and Graphics staff. Interns will learn how to operate audio equipment and the director’s board and run teleprompter. Master control is the “heart” of any broadcast operation and ultimately responsible for the technical quality of the on-air signal. An internship in operations can be used as a stepping stone to go on to studio production as a Director or Camera Operator.

Human Resources

The Human Resource Intern will support the day to day activities of the HR Team. This includes but is not limited to assisting in projects in recruiting, background checks, new hire orientation, and various supportive functions. All interns will have the opportunity to train and work hands-on in the HR department. This position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in college or university classes seeking a degree.

Graphics

An intern in the Graphics Department will have the opportunity to contribute heavily to the daily newscast, on air promotions, and post production needs. Interns will learn to use PC and Unix-based computer systems. Interns will have the opportunity to work with on our state-of-the-art “Flame” system. Organization, creativity, and ability to work well under pressure are the key to success in this field.

If you wish to apply to any of our open positions, please forward resume and cover letter WITH SALARY REQUIREMENT to resume@rnntv.com.
